The “Dreiling Genealogy” was obtained by my father, Daniel D. Dreiling, husband of Felicitas Dreiling, from Helen (Linenberger) Hall, Hutchison, Kansas. Helen was the sister  of Fr. Herbert Linenberger, C.PP.S. Helen’s parents were Herman J. Linenberger and Anna Maria Dreiling. Anna Maria Dreiling was the daughter of Michael M. Dreiling, Jr. and Barbara Brevo.

    Paul Dreiling was from Tyrol, Province of western Austria. He immigrated to Riga, Latvia and died in 1535 at the age of 70. He was a Lutheran.

    Jasper Dreiling, son of  Paul Dreiling, was born in the year 1516 and died March 28, 1563. He married Anna Holthausen, born 1513 and died March 27, 1596. They had four children, Casper, Melchoir, Balthasar and Catherine von Engelstedt.

    Balthasar Dreiling, son of Jasper Dreiling, had five children: Anna Tamm, Casper (died in the plague), Heinrich (plague), Balthasar and Gertrude. He was a merchant, a senior of the Guild and a mathematician at the St. Jacob’s school in Riga, Latvia.

       Johannes Dreiling had two sons: John Dreiling I, the “German” and Michael Dreiling. They were born in Germany, either in Munich  or the Munich area. Munich is the capital of Barvaria located in south central Germany on the Isar river.

        John Dreiling I and Michael Dreiling joined the thousands immigrating to Russia. They settled in the village of Herzog, Russia  in the year 1765. The villiage was founded by 32 families from Bavaria besides the river Karaman, a tributary of the Volga river. Herzog is located near the major city of Saratov, Russia.

    Michael M. Dreiling, Sr. and Magraretha Bollig had six children: Franzickus, Anton, Katherine, Michael, Peter and Johannes. Michael M. Dreiling, Sr. and Magraretha Bollig were both born at Herzog, Russia, and arrived in America on the SS Mosel.

    Michael M. Dreiling and Agnes Kuhn were both born at Herzog, Russia. Agnes was the oldest dauther of Michael Kuhn and Margaretha Dinkel. Michael and Agnes were both passangers on the SS Mosel, traveling with their parents to America. They acquired a farm located approximately three-forth mile south of Emmeram, Kansas.
